Overcoming the Past

Prior to enrolling into the WIOA Adult program, Kyle had many barriers impacting his ability to provide for himself and his family. He was unemployed and having a difficult time finding employment due to his checkered past. Kyle was enrolled into the WIOA Adult program in June of 2020. After enrollment, Kyle began a work experience with the Marlow Senior Nutrition Center. The work experience allowed him to support himself and his family, as well as gain experience and develop connections with fellow employees. He received satisfactory evaluations during his time at the Nutrition Center. Following the completion of his work experience, Kyle was hired on as a full-time employee at the Nutrition Center. In January of 2021, Kyle displayed interest in earning his Class A CDL so he could earn more money to better his and his family’s living situation. After talking with his case manager, they developed a plan to help him improve some of his soft skills and enroll him into an eligible training program. Kyle began training at CBM Driving Academy in March, and quickly completed his training and earned his Class A CDL in April. Kyle was hired soon after the completion of his training by Butler Transportation and is still their valued employee. Kyle has continued to keep his case manager updated on his employment status and well-being. Kyle is an example of an upstanding and dedicated participant who has overcome challenges and barriers to reach success and sustainability in his life.
